Description

Die monolithe Rundscheibe stellt in ihrem Zentrum in Grisaillemalerei die Allegorie der Gerechtigkeit (Justitia) vor hellgelbem Grund dar. Unterhalb der von einem Blattkranz umfassten Figur steht das Wappen des Bartholomäus Herren. Der Aussenkreis nimmt die Stifterinschrift (unten) und einen Sinnspruch zur Gerechtigkeit (oben) auf.

History

Research

Die Herren gehören zu den alten Landgeschlechtern Berns und sind auch in Murten, Meyriez und Lurtigen verbürgert (HBLS 4/1927, S. 197). Von Bartholomäus Herren ist nichts bekannt, das über sein in der Inschrift genanntes Amt als Ammann in Bümpliz hinausginge. Der Scheibenstifter führt auch nicht das für die "Herren" in der Berner Burgergemeinde verzeichnete Wappen mit den drei Gänsen (Wappenbuch 2003, S. 146).
Das kleine Glasgemälde stammt sicher aus dem näheren Umkreis des Berner Glasmalers Andreas Fueter. Ob sie in dessen Werkstatt entstand, bleibt aufgrund des schlechten Erhaltungszustandes allerdings ungewiss
