Description

Das Fragment einer Scheibe, das mit blauen Gläsern zu einer Rundel ergänzt wurde, zeigt über grünem Dreiberg den gekrönten steigenden roten Löwen des Murtner Stadtwappens. Der farblose, d. h. heraldisch silberne Grund des Wappens ist mit radierten Ranken verziert und mit einem Rahmen von Rosetten umgeben.

State of Conservation and Restorations

Erhaltung: Fragment einer Scheibe. Links ergänzt und mit blauem Glas als Rahmung zur Rundscheibe komponiert. Kleiner Glasausbruch im Schwanz des Löwen.

Technique

Farbloses Glas. Blaues Glas als Ergänzung. Bemalung mit Schwarzlot und Silbergelb, vorderseitig aufgetragenem Eisenrot sowie grünen Schmelzfarben.

History

Research

Über die Form oder Gestalt der ursprünglichen Scheibe gibt das Fragment keine Auskunft. Der Wappenlöwe von Murten kommt in seiner kraftvollen, sorgfältig gezeichneten und durchstrukturierten Gestalt dem Löwen im Wappen des Hauteriver Abtes Jakob Müllibach (FR_56) nahe und dürfte daher ebenfalls um 1575 zu datieren sein. Es ist jedoch kaum zu entscheiden, ob es auch dem gleichen Glasmaler zugeschrieben werden kann.
