    Im Hauptbild ist Jakobs Traum von der Himmelsleiter vor einer Flusslandschaft dargestellt (Gn 28, 11–15). Darunter flankieren die von ovalen Lorbeerkränzen umfassten Vollwappen des Stifterpaares die Inschriftenkartusche.

    Monolithscheibe aus farblosem Glas; Bemalung mit Schwarzlot, Silbergelb und Eisenrot sowie blauer und violetter Schmelzfarbe.

    Research

    Laut der Stifterinschrift war der aus Weinfelden stammende Jakob Schad Hufschmied von Beruf und mit Anna Mötteli verheiratet. Ihre Allianz ist in den Ehebüchern aus Weinfelden (Staatsarchiv Thurgau) nicht auffindbar. Zwei weitere Scheiben im Gasthaus zum Trauben aus demselben Jahr 1711 (TG_265, TG_1441) gehören zwar nicht zu demselben Zyklus, stammen aber wohl aus derselben Werkstatt. Dabei ist vor allem an den Konstanzer Glasmaler Johann Georg Spengler (1660–1737), der für die Kirche Egelshofen Rundscheiben mit ähnlichen Wappendarstellungen schuf, zu denken.
    Eine ähnliche Rundscheibe eines Weinfelder Ehepaares mit einer Darstellung von Jakobs Traum stammt aus dem Jahr 1732 (Rathaus Weinfelden, Inv. Nr. Alt 789, TG_486).
