    Description

    Vor einer luftigen dreiachsigen Architektur steht sich das Stifterpaar gegenüber. Der mit einem Schwert umgürtetet Mann hält mit seiner Linken eine Hellebarde. Seine Frau hält ihm in der rechten Hand den Becher mit dem Willkommtrunk entgegen. Die beiden Figuren befinden sich auf dem gefliesten, mit einer Balustrade besetzten Podium, an dessen Front die Stifterinschrift und die Wappen von Hans Martin Hanhart und Katharina Scherrer angebracht sind.

    Die Jahreszahl ist ausgekratzt (laut Unterlagen des Historischen Museum Thurgau diese fast sicher als 1687 zu lesen). Sprungbleie.

    Bemalung mit Schwarzlot, Silbergelb und Eisenrot sowie blauer und violetter Schmelzfarbe.

    Research

    Der Stifter dürfte aus dem Thurgau stammen. Sein Wappen entspricht demjenigen der Familien Hanhart (Hanhardt) aus Diessenhofen und Steckborn. Das Wappen Hanhart befindet sich auf der Scheibe heraldisch links, also eigentlich an Stelle des Frauenwappens.
    Die ausgekratzte Jahreszahl ist heute nicht mehr zu lesen. Laut Unterlagen im Historischen Museum Thurgau war sie früher fast sicher als 1687 zu lesen.
    Das Stifterpaar bestellte seine Scheibe beim Wiler Glasmaler Hans Caspar Gallati. Dieser hatte 1690 eine weitere Scheibe für ein Steckborner Ehepaar gefertigt (TG_137).

    Die Scheibe wird genannt in:
    Galerie Koller, 1968, Nr. 1553, Abb. Tafel 9 (Angabe der Jahreszahl “16??”).
